How does it work?

We’ve spent years doing scientific research, developing and testing our algorithm, all to give you the best results for your company.

Even though the science is advanced, the method is straightforward to use.

1

Picture input

Scanner, camera, or smartphone… it doesn’t matter! Your operators can use any device to take a picture of your product and input it into our cloud service. We believe in using what you already have - and for every new client, we assess your specific needs and fit the service to suit your production line, workflow, and existing hardware. Also, we can help you choose the device that fits your needs the best and implement it in your company.

2

Color correction

Consistency is key. When we analyze your images, we must make sure that the results are reliable and reproducible.

Our algorithm makes use of a transformation matrix to compare a color target on each image to a calibrated reference image. The color correction makes sure the color data appears the same on every picture, even under varying illumination. The outcome is that you get the same quality of results every time.

3

Segmentation

The algorithm selects the color pixels in the image that describes the quality indicators you’re looking for. Red blood spots in salmon, browning leaves in lettuce, white barnacles on mussels, pink areas of prawns, brown areas of apples - if it’s visible, it gets measured.

4

Measuring and analysis

Depending on your needs, the algorithm uses the segmented areas of pixels to measure the freshness, grading, degree of defects or any other visual quality parameter you choose. Your operator gets immediate and reliable results from the entire picture, reducing variability caused by traditional visual inspection.

Our cloud service stores the quality information along with the image, making documentation a breeze for you.

Of course, production lines and products are different. Counting, measuring, appearance, and texture are also important for visual inspection. When you work with us, we help you analyze and test which quality parameters to look for so we can tailor our service to your exact needs.
